ACQUIRING ADJOINT COEFFICIENTS OF ACOUSTIC RADIATION MODES OF A CLAMPED-CLAMPED PLATE USING ARRAY SENSORS

A new piezoelectric sensor design for a clamped-clamped plate is presented to measure its amplitudes of the first three radiation modes. An array of rectangular segments of polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) film attached on the surface of the plate is taken as sensors. The output signals of the PVDF films are multiplied by appropriate weights so that the weighted combinations of the output directly lead to the amplitudes of the first three radiation modes. It is shown that the array sensor design not only is independent of the external excitation properties such as,type, magnitude, position, etc.,but also can be applied for vibrating plates with arbitrary boundary conditions.
