How to evaluate the effectiveness of a tactile surface indicator system

Abstract The aim is to establish and evaluate tactile indicators in street environment, with patterns and designs based on conclusions of recent studies in Sweden and Norway. The paper discusses some challenges identified in setting up an evaluation design to assess how useful these indicators selected on a theoretical and experimental basis are in real traffic situations.
