Research on Streaming Media Technology and Its Application to Digital Library

How to apply the media technology to digital library construction ef fectively and efficiently is still an important challenge. In order to provide t he VoD (Video on Demand) service in digital library, the paper analyzes Informed ia digital library system developed by Carnegie Mellon University and Apple's DA RWIN streaming media server system in detail. Based on studying and analyzing th e related key techniques in these systems, it presents an efficient way to suppo rt VoD subsystem in THADL (Tsinghua Architecture Digital Library).
