Reluctance NetworkAnalysis ofHigh Power SynchronousReluctance MotorwithSaturation and IronLossesConsiderations

Thispaperprovides a reluctance network modeling forthesteady state performance calculation ofa 94kWmassive ora125kWfluxbarrier rotorsynchronous reluctance machine. Themassive rotor issuitable forhigh- speedapplication; thefluxbarriers increase thesaliency ratioandleadtohigher torqueandpowerfactor. The suggested modelissignificantly faster thanfinite element methodandisprecise asforperformance criteria suchas torqueandpowerfactor. Thisprecision isguaranteed by taking into account thesaturation ofallferromagnetic parts ofthemachine. The proposed modelalsopermits to computethestator ironlosses andconsequently themotor efficiency.
