Nonlinear Control of a Blending Process with Uncertainty

Nonlinear control of pH in a mixing tank with delay is discussed with emphasis on variable structure control. It is shown that the use of a nonlinear control strategy can greatly increase system performance over that obtained using conventional techniques. A discussion is given for a rational approach to the inclusion of system uncertainty.
