Moms-02: Spectral Significance for Thematic Data Evaluation as Combined with Along-Track Stereo Capability

The MOMS-02 instrument is designed as a pushbroom scanning device for spectral data acquisition in the visible (VIS) and near infrared (NIR) range (#l: 449 to 511 nm, #2: 532 to 577 nm, #3:645 to 677 nm, #4: 772 to 815 nm, IFOV: 13,5 x 13,5 m), combined with along track, simultaneously acquired forward, backward (IFOV: 13,5 x 13,5 m) and nadir (IFOV: 4.5 x4.5 m) looking stereo capability (#5: 512 to 765 nm, #6/7: 524 to 763 nm). The definition of bandwidth and location of spectral and panchromatic bands is based on laboratory diffuse reflectance measurements from leaves and needles of different tree species as well as mineral standards, rocks and soils containing Fe'+/'+ions. The calculations of spectral significance for thematic data evaluation is based on spectroscopic field measurements of crops from Ethiopia and the F.R.G., combined with an atmospheric transmission model (LOWTRAN 7) and system parameters. Preliminary results show decisive better signals compared to TM .
