The Realization of Process Meaning: The Sydney Grammar vs.the Cardiff Grammar

Within the overall framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics, the Sydney Grammar and the Cardiff Grammar hold different views regarding the realization of Process meaning. After analyzing Process meanings in situations represented by clauses, this paper concludes that the Process meaning at the semantic level is realized by the Predicator at the syntactic level, that the Predicator is filled by the verbal group, and that the verbal group is composed of different elements in different cases.
