Reactive Power Optimization Using PSO Algorithm in Power System

Particle swarm optimization(PSO) is a new technology in terms of swarm intelligence optimization originating from artificial life and evolutionary computation.The optimization is realized by arriving at the optimizations of each particle and that of all the particles as a whole.Since this algorithm is easy to use and has fewer parameters,it has been widely studied and applied.This paper introduces research in which the PSO algorithm was applied to the study of reactive power optimization in power system,along with a concrete procedure.The PSO was improved by presenting a third extreme value for directing search for the purpose of enhancing the searching capabilities of PSO.Simulation results of IEEE-6-bus power system are indicative of the efficiency of PSO.
