Voltage Oriented Control of Indirect Matrix Converter Applied to Wind Energy Conversion System using PMSM Generator

This paper investigates the steady-state and dynamic performance of three-phase Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC) used in wind energy conversion system (WECS) based on permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). For the wind turbine, the proposed control is the maximum power point tracking algorithm based on optimum torque control loop (OTC). The voltage-oriented controller combined with space vector modulation (VOC-SVM) control algorithm is proposed. The validation of the modulation process is successfully performed. Simulation results present a good dynamic response and excellent performance and verify the effectiveness of the adopted control strategy of the IMC under wind speed variation.
