Quality of Service for the Last Mile

As broadband access to the Internet is expected to become widely available to customers over the last-mile, the need for providing Quality of Service (QoS) classifications over lastmile links is keenly felt. This report deals with a broad set of last-mile technologies from the perspective of their respective abilities to support QoS. A brief overview of the QoS characteristics, standards defined, and unresolved issues with respect to each last mile technology is presented.
