With the development of the power electronic technology, the high performance vessel electrical propulsion system has been developed, However, limited attention has earlier been given to the effects of the propulsion system dynamics in waves. A model of ship motion considered regular waves is introduced. The constant rotating speed control mode and constant power control mode of the propulsion motor are studied and compared, Moreover, a combined speed and power control method is introduced and analyzed, which is compromised either speed fluctuation or power fluctuation. Simulation results show the effects of these three control mode. It is very importance value for the researcher to design the vessel electric propulsion motor drives system.
