Simulation of different degrees of inter-turn defects for one phase of stator winding of a DFIG by fem.

There are several faults that affect the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) performances, in this work, we deal with the stator inter-turn short-circuit fault. In this paper, a DFIG has been modelled by finite elements method by using Maxwell software to perform the DFIG design also for the simulation in normal and fault conditions, some simulation results has been presented both for healthy and for several inter-turn short-circuit cases. The simulation results of short-circuit at different degree has been combined with the healthy case to show the effect of short-circuit degree on the DFIG performances. It has been noticed that more than the number of turns of short-circuit is large more than the DFIG is recede to the performances of the healthy state.
