A resource management scheme for efficient WWW computing in wireless communications

Nowadays, mobile computing is considered of major importance to the computing industry due to the immense progress in the wireless communications domain. In this paper, we present a proxy-based architecture for improving WWW browsing in cellular networks. Proxy caches, contained in base stations, are constantly relocated to accompany the nomadic user. We propose a cache management scheme involving the relocation of full caches to the most candidate future cells but, also, percentages of the cache to less likely neighbours. Relocation is performed according to a path prediction algorithm based on a learning automaton. The simulation of the overall scheme demonstrates considerable benefits for the end user.
