Boundary Conditions for Time Dependent Problems with an Artificial Boundary

Abstract In this paper different procedures for treating artificial boundaries are analyzed, and it is shown that many commonly used methods give bad results. A new procedure is developed for the case where the asymptotic behaviour of the coefficient matrices is known.
