The Effect of Boundary Layer on Sonic Flow Through an Abrupt Cross-Sectional Area Change

It has long been known that the pressure at the base of highspeed projectiles is lower than the ambient pressure. Since experimental work on projectiles has indicated that the boundar} layer definitely affects the base pressure, it was decided to investigate the effect of the boundary layer on the similar phenomena occurring in internal sonic or supersonic flow through a sudden enlargement of cross section.
