Using a wiki system for learning activities in a specialist English academic course

This paper presents a case study and an evaluation of using a wiki system to supplement the traditional learning activities within an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) academic course. Incorporating simple online learning activities (e-tivities) based on the use of a wiki system within the syllabus of this ESP course enabled students to produce their own online content and share it with co-participants. Additionally, a survey was conducted with a view to evaluating this innovation in teaching the ESP course as well as investigating learners’ experience and satisfaction with the wiki-based learning activities. Finally, the wiki-based e-tivities that could be used for collaborative language learning have been outlined.
