Development of System Based Code: Methodologies for Life-Cycle Margin Evaluation

The late Professor Emeritus Yasuhide Asada proposed the System Based Code concept, which intends the optimization of design of nuclear plants through margin exchange among a variety of technical options which are not allowed by current codes and standards. The key technology of the System Based Code is margin exchange evaluation methodology. This paper describes recent progress with regards to margin exchange methodologies in Japan.Copyright © 2006 by ASME
