Production bactériennne de struvite (MgNH4PO4, 6 H2O) au cours d'expériences visant à produire des carbonates hypermagnésiens

During the course of experiments aiming to produce high-Mg carbonates through bacterial carbonatogenesis in aerobiosis, various types of struvite corpuscles have been produced, notably ooids. Such biogenic structures have already often been observed for carbonate and Ca-phosphate particles but had never been noticed for Mg-phosphate bodies. These ooids have formed in liquid medium the strict composition of which was elaborated in order to favor the production of high-Mg carbonates. The hydrated magnesium phosphate has been the only mineral obtained either as ooids or as classical crystals.
