Agreement and coordinate NPs

The paper discusses the problems that coordinate NPs differing in agreement features pose for current GPSG. Based on examples from Spanish, French, and Hungarian, we argue that in order to account for the relevant facts some central principles of the theory of features have to be modified. Thus, we propose revised versions of the definitions of the notion 0/head, of the head feature convention, and of the control agreement principle. By these modifications the theory gains in both descriptive and explanatory adequacy.
