In the method, for a network originated location type, before an SUPL (Secure User Plane Location) initial location information is issued, a location platform acquires the routing information of a terminal to be positioned and then sends a signaling carrying the SUPL initial location message to a mobile switching center to which the terminal currently belongs according to the routing information, and the mobile switching center sends the SUPL initial location message to the terminal. According to the invention, a client side can timely and accurately acquire the position information of the terminal to be positioned, and user experience is increased.
