The development of the supervisory system of the Imperial College Free Ranging Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) project in a known structured environment is described. AGVs are increasingly being used in industry to transport workpieces between specified locations. The supervisory system is the traffic controller which interfaces the AGV fleet with other activities in the factory. Based on transportation demands, the supervisory system executes the dispatching, scheduling, communicating and monitoring operation of the fleet. The system also performs dynamic rescheduling if unexpected obstacles or conflict situations arise for the selected vehicles.<<ETX>>
