Single Modal Vibration Control of Laminated Plates based on the Optimal Placement of a Sensor and an Actuator

Abstract The present paper treats structural vibration control for a specific single mode using the modal sensor and actuator. A modal sensor system for identifying the specific vibration mode, which is mechanically simple, is developed by one point sensor and one band-pass filter so as to be easily equipped to the structures. A sensor and actuator pair is optimally placed so that the best accuracy of measurement of modal velocity and the maximal control effect can be acquired. The proposed vibration control system is effective for suppression of single modal vibration as shown through experimental results.
