Closer look at mosaic reflectarray antennas

Justification for the use of fragmented elements in the design of mosaic reflectarrays is provided whereby the far-field pattern performance is shown to be good in spite of the optical mosaic image, and this fact is confirmed for an additional test case of a synthesised image. Additionally, the use of sub-wavelength spaced elements, as opposed to the traditional half-wavelength spaced elements, is strongly motivated by sampling density advantages for image reproduction.
