Exploitation of Flexibility within Net-zero Energy Factories. A Study Case for a German Carpentry Works

Industrial facilities might offer a high contribution to integrate the electric power generated by volatile renewable energy sources better. However, the identification, quantification and exploitation of flexibility is necessary to do that. A methodology has been developed to identify and quantify flexibility within a job shop process. The flexibility identified has then been used to operate a carpentry works as a net-zero energy factory. Technical and economic analyses have been performed to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages (costs) of operating the carpentry works as a net-zero energy factory.
