Design and modeling of a stand-alone photovoltaic system

This paper proposes a comprehensive MATLAB Simulink simulator for photovoltaic (PV) system used for the battery charging application in isolated microgrid. It presents maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control of PV system using Incremental Conductance (IC) optimization algorithm. A dc-dc converter is used to assure the connection between the PV source and battery. This paper gives a detailed modeling of the single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) with the PV module input and pulse-width modulation (PWM) control.
