Determination of laser damage thresholds by comparison with an absolute laser damage standard

Absolute laser‐damage thresholds can be rapidly measured by comparison with an absolute laser‐damage standard. Multiple‐layer TiO2/SiO2 antireflection films on BK‐7 glass were found to be the best available damage standards for use at 1064 nm.
