A Service-oriented Optical Ethernet Network Design and Implementation

The paper presents a service-oriented optical Ethernet network design, which is based on a proposed integrated optical Ethernet network architecture. Through the introduction of a service plane, the service-oriented network enables various service compositions and is able to support carrier grade Ethernet transport services. The paper describes the design and implementation of an IMS based service plane, the service provisioning procedures, and shows experimental results of providing QoS stringent end-to-end Ethernet transport services through the service plane.
