A Study of Quality Assessment Techniques For Fused Images

290 Abstract: Critical image processing tasks can be efficiently executed by fusion of images taken from range of distributed sensors. Advancements in digital image processing and communication technology with invent of new sensors experiencing the excessive need of effective image quality assessment of image fusion techniques. Various metrics have been discussed for quality measurement of fused image based on subjective or objective assessment. Objective quality assessment techniques are preferred over subjective since they do not involve the complexity in their practical implementation and validation. Based on availability of an ideally fused (reference) image, the metrics are classified into referential and non referential metrics. This paper presents an overview of different objective techniques for fused image quality assessment.
