A millimeter-wave predistortion linearizer for traveling wave tube amplifiers

In this paper, a millimeter-wave predistortion linearizer to satisfy linearization requirements of the traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) is proposed. By controlling the DC bias of the Schottky diode, the linearizer is capable of providing different combinations of the amplitude and phase characteristics for the TWTAs. The simulation results show 7.2dB gain compensation and 42° phase compensation can be achieved for the TWTAs with the linearizer. Good reflection characteristic of the linearizer can be obtained and any additional matching element is not required.
