Numerical and experimental investigation of a pressure measuring system with a restrictor

Abstract Pressure measuring tubing systems with restrictors are very common in building aerodynamics model tests. They are tested by applying periodic pressure signals and measuring the transfer functions. Theoretical calculations are based on periodic signals too. The application of the theory of transient flow in pipes applying a numerical method of characteristics enables to calculate the pressure history for arbitrary input signals. Calculated pressure histories for several pressure measuring systems are compared with results from a special wave propagating test rig.
