The Implement of High Speed Correlation Tracking Algorithm Based on FPGA in Space Solar Telescope

Image correlation tracking is one of the key factors to reach its 0.1" spatial resolution, the diffraction limit of the 1 m optical system on space solar telescope (SST). Correlation operation is implemented in correlation tracker (CT) which can detect the sub-pixel displacement and also correct it. So adopting a suitable implementation method is the role of CT. In this paper, an efficient design module is introduced, which include the 32times32 points two-dimension image FFT method, radix-2 row column transform method, the 18-bit floating-point data structure, modular structure, and pipelining operation method. Only 0.6 ms is needed to realize a 32times32 image correlation algorithm on a XCV800 FPGA chip with 20 MHz clock. Pixel-tracking precision is better than 0.1 pixels
