Nonlinear analytical modeling of hybrid excitation double sided linear eddy current brake

A hybrid excitation double sided linear eddy current brake is presented in this research study. The structure and working principle of the machine are introduced. A nonlinear analytic model of hybrid excitation double sided linear eddy current brake is derived using the equivalent magnetic circuit method and the Maxwell's equations. The nonlinear analytic model take into account leakage flux, higher harmonics, core saturation and actual path of eddy currents in the secondary conductor, therefore the accuracy is observably improved. The veracity of the nonlinear analytic model is verified using the 2D and 3D finite element method.
