An example of supervisory control in C2

This paper extends our earlier work on operational reconfigurability in command and control (C2) for military air operations. The new development takes into consideration of the service and delay times inherent in the operations of command and control centers. A main processing unit is used as an example, for which operational reconfiguration is achieved via a simplistic supervisory control scheme that manages the existing redundancy. The paper presents a Markov model of the controlled processing unit, as well as some numerical results that show the benefit of supervisory control to the availability of the C2 functionality and to the response time.
