Design issues relating to the provision of integrated services on a broadband coaxial cable local area network

A tutorial overview is given of modern designs that have been researched and developed by the authors to satisfy a range of application requirements. The requirements of such networks are first reviewed, and the characteristics of a typical broadband cable system with respect to frequency allocation strategies and signal amplitude levels are described. Three modems that have been implemented to meet a range of services are then presented.<<ETX>>
