A ∼20 ps resolution crystal streak camera

Abstract This paper describes the design and performance of a streak camera based on a LiNbO3 electro-optic deflector. The camera has a total sweep time of ∼4 ns and a temporal resolution of ∼20 ps for ∼0.5 μm radiation. Operation between ∼0.35 μm and ∼5.2 μm with either coherent or incoherent light is possible. Consequently the camera has many potential applications in the field of picosecond optical chronoscopy.
