Portable Optical Coagulation Analyzer Based on Real-Time Image Processing Algorithm

The coagulation is the process by which the blood is transformed from liquid to solid state. It is a phenomenon that affects the body’s homeostasis in a negative way determining severe thrombotic disorders. Patients that have or are inclined to heart failure, ischemic thrombotic stroke, eye thrombosis and other vascular related issues need to continuously monitor their blood coagulation parameters in order to adequate compensate with anticoagulant. An original prototype that uses a low capillary sample volume for optical coagulation measurements is presented in this paper. The coagulation assay should be simple, fast, precise and accurate in order to ensure proper treatment and easy self-monitor process.
