Disruption management model for VRPSPD with request changes of customers

This paper addresses the disruption problem caused by the request changes of customers in a predetermined vehicle distribution plan. In this paper, vehicle routing problem with simultaneously pickup and delivery (VRPSPD) is considered. Based on the idea of disruption management, the impacts of disruption issues on both cost and service time were analyzed. A disruption management model was established aiming at minimizing the generalized cost deviation when demand changes happen on the initial distribution plan. The influencing demand changes were identified. Then the dispatching algorithm based on tabu search was designed to solve this problem. The numerical results show that the proposed method can effectively respond to demand changes and get a satisfying solution. Compared with the common response, which is sending new vehicles to serve the increased demand, the proposed method in this paper can reduce the influence made by the disruption and save costs for logistics companies.
