A 3.9 mw 1–39 GHz static frequency divider employing series inductive peaking technique

This paper presents a power efficient static frequency divider (SFD) for wideband operation. Series inductive peaking technique is utilized to construct broadband input network of the divider. The aspects of design using the technique are supported with exhaustive simulations. The prototyped divided-by-two frequency divider is implemented in 65 nm LP CMOS technology. Measurement results show that the divider core dissipates less than 3.3 mA average current from a 1.2 V power supply, while operating from 1 to 39 GHz with less than 0 dBm input power.
