Research on the LVRT of DFIG's wind power generation with experimental demonstration system

This paper introduces the verification experiment on the LVRT capability of wind power generation system in la boratory environment. A new LVRT system is designed in which contains chopper and crowbar subsystem, by adopting the IGBT-based fast switches instead of half-controlled thyristor, to realize the wind power generation system ride through when voltage dip happens. Based on the DSP & CPLD control system platform, a novel control strategy is proposed to achieve the fast detection of voltage dip, efficient separation of positive and negative voltage component, soft excitation of DFIG's rotor. A 30kW prototype DFIG system is built to verify the topology design and corresponding control strategy of LVRT system, for demonstration of realization and stability.
