Efficient Approach for DG Placement and Size in Medium Voltage Distribution Systems

Location and size of Distributed Generation (DG) in distribution lines plays a very important role. Wrongly placed DG may cause distribution losses and poor voltage profile. In this paper a modified analytical method is suggested to find the best location and size of solar photovoltaic (SPV) based DG in medium voltage distribution lines to reduce the power losses and to improve the voltage profile. The proposed method is tested on IEEE 33-bus distribution system. The results show the validity of the proposed approach for loss reduction and voltage profile improvement and there is an improvement in the result.
