SIGNAL LOCATION BY UNIFORM RESISTIVE ANODES .A. SQUARE ANODES IN THE DC LIMIT

Abstract A quantitative description is given of the distortion and resolution performance of square resistive anode position encoders in the limit of vanishing capacitance. The calculations are based on numerical solutions of the relevant potential distributions. A wide variety of electrode positions, electrode lengths and amplitude ratio position signals is examined. An account is given of the noise correlation in four-terminal resistive anodes. A number of practical square anode readout systems are identified.
