Facing Learning System Design Complexity: Personalization, Adaptation and Reusability

This paper concerns the advanced research field of Web-based learning technologies and recent standardization approaches. It explores the need for reusability and interoperability, and outlines the present state of the relevant standards. This paper also describes the key adaptation concept, and the current implementation of the virtual learning environment in progress called 'Educational Media' (EDMedid). It also includes brief conclusions as well as directions for future work according to up-coming trends in learning technology.
