Tricks of the Trade: How to Get More Capacity at Signalized Intersections at Low Cost and Without Compromising Safety

Many signalized intersections that suffer from peak-period congestion could be operated at greater capacity if some low-cost "tricks of the trade" were applied. This paper details several tricks of the trade. It explains what conditions should be present for each to be considered. Furthermore, it details how each can be implemented safely and in conformance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other standards and guidelines. Language: en
