SCRUM IN PROJECTS USING FIXED TERM

This research presents a proposed methodology to minimize the problems encountered in fixed term projects that use Scrum. Scrum is an iterative and incremental process used for managing any kind of project. This process is widely used in the area of Information Technology (IT), where most of the projects is closed with a fixed term, i.e., through a fixed price contract. In the IT area the changes in scope are constant, and can bring highimpact to the projects when they are not adequately addressed. Scrum, being iterative, provides a detailed scope of each cycle known as sprint. Thus, early in the project does not have all the detailed scope. Therefore, it is not possible to make a reliable estimate of the total project time, mainly due to not having the exact dimension of its size. However, because of this to be the main cause of the failure of many projects in the IT area, this research proposes a methodology that seeks to reconcile, on the one hand, Scrum, which is constantly growing in this area, and on the other hand, fixed term project, which is the most commonly be used in this area. The proposed methodology proves effective since, in addition to providing greater security in estimates, still predicts the impact of changes in the integration of the project.
