On Automatic Computer–Model Construction-The Second Step Toward A Quasi Optimizer System

The paper describes the Quasi-Optimizer project which automatically generates descriptive theories, i.e., computer models of competitive strategies specified as impenetrable “black box” programs, and a normative theory that is quasi-optimum against all input strategies. The first phase of the project, which constructs the computer models, is complete and is of interest in its own right. We also discuss methodological problems, the power and the inherent difficulties of our approach.
