Getting Down to the Actual Design

This chapter discusses that the preliminary design work includes the basis for design; research drawing and specification resources; and preliminary budgeting. The basis for the design explains what the system should be from an interpretation of implementation of security policies. Drawing resources include security system device placements and types, access control zones, a study of codes and regulations, safety issues, and power source locations. A list of interdisciplinary coordination issues should be developed. The system technology goals should be decided.
