The tissue and subcellular distribution of insecticide-resistance related enzymes were analyzed in larvae of striped stem borer,Chilo suppressalis(Walker). The results of tissue distribution showed that the activities of mixed function oxidases(MFOs),carboxylesterase(CaE) and glutathione S-transferases(GSTs) were high in fat body and gut,but low in haemolymph. The activity of acetylcholinesterase(AChE) could be detected in all tissues, which was the highest in gut compared with other detected tissues.Relatively, there was no significant difference in the activity of AChE among fat body, integument and haemolymph. The results of subcellular distribution showed that MFOs and CaE were mostly distributed in some subcelluar structures containing membrane such as nucleus, cellular debris, mitochondrion and microsome, but little in cytosol.By contraries, the activity of GSTs and CarE were the highest in cytosol, next in mitochondrion, nucleus and cellular debris, and lowest in microsome.
