A Flexible, User-Friendly Communication Structure for Engineering Applications

Abstract Cooperative acting and communicating in project teams by using distributed applications and knowledge resources could help manufacturing companies to be competitive. In this paper an example of a CORBA-based communication structure between different applications for an environmentally-friendly design of machine tools which has been developed as a part of an EU-TEMPUS-Collaboration between the IAT Germany and the University of Craiova, Romania, is described.
