Study on an AFEC Method of a Real-Time Data Transport

Aiming at the special requirements of real-time data transport for quality of service (QoS), an adaptive forward error correction (AFEC) method based on real-time transport protocol (RTP), which was capable of recovering the lost single-packet, was proposed. Through adjusting the error coding parameter(packet length of error coding)dynamically and tracing network congestion, the method above could guarantee the transport QoS. The analysis and experiments indicate that the AFEC method can adapt to the change of network congestion preferably, recover the lost packet effectively with higher code rate and less requirement of extra bandwidth
