Physical properties of tussah silk fabrics treated with a mixture of glyoxal and urethane compounds

In order to develop new textile products from silk fibers, their several inferior properties such as photoyellowing and low-crease recovery should be modified. Previous papers reported that the treatment of silk fibers from the domestic silkworm with a mixture of glyoxal and urethane compounds enhanced the durability against ultraviolet rays and improved the physical properties of the fibers (KAWAHARA et al.,1994,1995a,1995b). In this paper, the effects of the treatment with these compounds on the physical properties of tussah silk fabrics were investigated
